I am a Scientist at the Swedish ABB
Research Centre where we are developping electrical energy systems with a view in the future of people and the planet. Some of the my areas of expertise are power converters, magnetics, and lately the hybrid electric vehicles. In the near future I hope to expand in High Voltage DC transmission and other high power converter technologies.
In the past, I have studied (1996-2000) and
worked (2000-2001) on Crete island, the best place to make friends and taste some good mediterranean food. I then moved along with my girlfriend
Vicky to
Edinburgh where I obtained the
PhD (2001-2005) on power
electronics for an aerospace application. Awarded
a young entrepreneur's grant I participated in Turnstone Devices Ltd a venture that aimed in
developing a device to makes us more aware of our energy needs. Several lessons were learned from this ambitious but short-lived
startup. The first period in Academia ended in 2008 when I finished my Post-Doc on Aerospace Electronics at Nottingham Uni in England .
I am now living in Sweden, one of the family-friendliest countries I know. The future will be, as it always has been, full of surprises. I can sense
my job bringing new challenges.
To my country I owe a lot and hope to give back one day.
All the best,

Tuesday, 15th Jun 2010.
